Coptic

Reading Coptic explores the fifth and final stage of the Egyptian language, which dates roughly from the 4th to 9th centuries CE. We will read a mix of documentary and literary Coptic texts in the Sahidic dialect.

Difficulty: The reading group is for beginners, but all levels are welcome! Coptic shares much of its alphabet with Greek, so those who are familiar with the Greek alphabet will have a head start.

Date and Time: Once a month. First Session: Friday 6 March 2026, 1pm-3pm
